Use this yoga flow to relieve allergies and stagnation

We are deep into the Kapha season of spring right now. It’s that time of year when allergies and gunk can clog up our system.  


AND, there are natural ways to help clear the channels so you feel lighter and less bogged down by any seasonal symptoms, or excess kapha in your system. 


Try yoga poses that…

  1. use large muscles (to increase body heat and circulation), because warmth and movement naturally help to clear kapha and congestion

  2. lift the chest, open the torso and expand the muscles of our midsection because kapha naturally builds in the lungs and chest and can block respiratory (and other) channels.

This flow uses the large muscles of the legs to build heat and increase heart rate, plus it creates opening in the chest and lung area from all the stretching of the arms overhead and the spinal flexion poses. 


Some pranayama (breathing exercises) also help reduce kapha dosha and stagnation.


  • Kapalabhati Pranayama (Skull Shining Breath): Kapalabhati is an energizing breathing technique that involves forceful exhalations through the nose, followed by passive inhalations. This rapid exhaling and natural inhaling pattern helps to cleanse the respiratory system, invigorate the body, and increase lung capacity.
  • Bhramari Pranayama (Bee Breath): Bhramari Pranayama involves creating a humming sound during exhalation, mimicking the sound of a buzzing bee. This technique helps calm the mind, reduce stress, and promote relaxation, benefiting respiratory health.

These gentle, all natural remedies can help balance our doshas, reduce seasonal allergy symptoms and clear out heaviness and congestion in other parts of the body, mind and spirit.
